The most important factor in your success.
Honestly, it really is.
Poor product but great brand.... success can be yours. Poor service but geat brand.... people forgive you (for a while). Too expensive but great brand... they'll still pay it. Do these 'bad things' erode the brand? Yes. Will they be overpaying for a poor product in the future? No... because it will no longer be a great brand.
The 'great' brand :
- buys you favour
- means you can have genuinely higher prices
- maintains loyalty in hard times
- means customers ask fewer questions before buying (increased trust)
- means customers will be willing to wait longer for delivery
The brand also:
- is an emotional feeling someone has towards your business and it's theirs - not yours
- must be built slowly and with strength
- must be nurtured and re-enforced at all times - especially post-purchase
- must be co-ordinated and consistent in its terminology, behaviour and presentation
- can be completely (and rapidly) destroyed after years of development through 'bad things'
